Terms of Service
The agreement between you and AdScoop, covering the extension, your library, and the Meta Ad Library it runs on.
Overview
These Terms govern your use of the AdScoop extension, the website at adscoop.app, and the web app at app.adscoop.app. Installing or using AdScoop means you accept them.
AdScoop is operated by Taher El Sheikh, in San Francisco, California, and "we" below means the same. If you do not accept these Terms, uninstall the extension and stop using the site.
About AdScoop
AdScoop is a Chrome extension that adds a research layer to the Meta Ad Library, and a web app that holds the ads you save there. It shows how long each ad has been running, and puts saving, sharing, downloading, transcription and export around a page you can already see.
It does not replace the Ad Library, host Meta's platform, or reach anything you could not open yourself. Everything the extension reads is on a page you are already looking at.
AdScoop is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or partnered with Meta, Facebook or Instagram.
What AdScoop Does
As of version 2.1:
- Find
- Suggests advertisers as you type, from Meta's own list, and opens their ads in the Ad Library with your filters applied.
- Save
- Keeps an ad in your library, with its creative archived, and lets you organise it into boards and tags.
- Share
- Creates a public link to one ad or a board, which you can turn off at any time.
- Download
- Saves an ad's images, video or carousel to your device, one at a time on the page or as a zip from your library.
- Transcribe
- Turns a video ad's audio into text, one ad at a time, in the extension.
- Export
- Takes the data of the ads you select out of your library as a CSV file.
This describes the current release rather than a permanent commitment. Features are added, changed and occasionally retired as the Ad Library moves.
Free to Use
AdScoop is free. There is no paid plan, no subscription and nothing to buy. Searching, the days badge, saving and downloading have no limit.
Saving, transcribing and share links need an account. Saves and downloads are unlimited for now, and transcription comes with 500 minutes a month, which resets each month and does not roll over. We may adjust these allowances to keep the service running for everyone, and we will say so in the extension when we do.
If we ever introduce a paid tier, everything described here as free stays free for existing accounts unless we give you reasonable notice, and nothing is charged without your explicit agreement.
Your Account
You sign in with Google or with a code sent to your email address. There is no password to keep, but you are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping access to the mailbox it uses. Tell us promptly if you think someone else is using it.
An account is for one person and is not to be shared.
Acceptable Use
AdScoop is built for ad research: finding what has run, studying why, and planning what to make next. Use it lawfully, and within these Terms.
You agree not to use AdScoop to:
- Collect data at a scale or in a manner that breaks Meta's terms for the Ad Library.
- Build a profile of a private individual, or harass, stalk or target anyone.
- Republish downloaded or transcribed ads as your own, or in breach of someone's copyright or trademark.
- Resell its output as a data product or feed it to one.
- Reverse engineer, decompile or tamper with the extension, or work around allowances and access checks.
- Use share links to distribute anything unlawful.
We decide what counts as a breach of this section, and we may act on it without notice.
Meta and the Ad Library
The Meta Ad Library has its own terms, and following them is your responsibility. AdScoop cannot grant you rights on Meta's platform, and we are not responsible for action Meta takes against your account.
The Ad Library also changes without notice, and a change can break a feature overnight. We repair breakages as quickly as we can, but we cannot promise uninterrupted compatibility with a service we do not control.
Content and Intellectual Property
The extension, the web app, the website, the name and the design belong to us. You may not copy, resell, or make derivative works from them without written permission.
The ads you reach through AdScoop belong to the advertisers who made them. Saving, downloading or transcribing an ad gives you no licence to it. What you do with that material is your responsibility, and copyright and trademark law apply to it exactly as they did before.
Disclaimers and Liability
AdScoop is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error free, or compatible with every browser version or every change Meta makes.
Dates, formats and platform lists come from Meta and are shown as they arrive. The number of days an ad has run is calculated from those dates and is an estimate rather than a measurement. Transcripts are generated by a speech model and may contain errors.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Taher El Sheikh is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising from your use of AdScoop, including lost data, lost revenue, or the standing of your Meta accounts. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to one hundred US dollars.
Termination
You can stop at any time. Uninstall the extension, and email us if you want your account and library deleted.
We may suspend or end your access for a breach of these Terms, for suspected abuse, or where the law requires it. Your licence to use AdScoop ends with it. Terms that are meant to outlive the agreement, including intellectual property, disclaimers and governing law, continue to apply.
Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what AdScoop collects, what stays in your browser, and how to have your data deleted. It is part of these Terms, and it is at adscoop.app/privacy.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Disputes arising under them belong to the state and federal courts of California, and you agree to that venue.
Changes to These Terms
We update these Terms as the product changes. When we do, the date at the top moves, and material changes are announced in the extension or by email. Using AdScoop after a change takes effect means you accept it.
